Employability Day 2019
Employability Day 2019 provided a platform for organisations to showcase the importance of employment support for social inclusion and productivity.
This year’s theme was Closing the Gaps which looked to highlight the efforts of organisations across the UK who help to close employment gaps by supporting disadvantaged people to enter, sustain or progress in work.
According to the Employment Related Services Association (ERSA), despite record employment rates there is still a significant disparity between groups in terms of employment, pay and career progression. These disparities include skills gaps across many sectors, including construction, where certain groups are not enabled to gain certain skills or subsequently progress into employment.
Reducing the disparities is significantly important to help build an inclusive workforce which increases productivity and social cohesiveness where everybody has an equal chance to thrive.
RMF Fresh Start is a social inclusion project that focuses on providing disadvantaged groups the pre-requisite training required to enter employment.
So far, RMF Fresh Start has provided employment to over 250 ex-offenders from the prison population where according to the Prison Reform Trust 26% are from a minority ethnic group.
Over the next year, RMF Fresh Start will provide training to over 1,500 candidates from disadvantaged backgrounds in the aim of providing sustained employment & champion social inclusion within the Construction & Rail industries.
Further, RMF Fresh Starts partnership with Reconomy continues to blossom and has already provided socially inclusive employment within a new sector in Waste Management.
The partnership, launched alongside Reconomy Social Value Programme (RSVP), has great prospects for future social inclusion by merging the RMF Fresh Start model with Reconomy’s experience and foothold within the Waste Management industry.
#EMPDAY19 was no different for RMF Fresh Start as we had 40 candidates sign up to our construction gateway course through the New Leaf Initiative C.I.C. aimed at creating employment for disadvantaged candidates!
All things considered, RMF Fresh Start are proud to be involved in Closing The Gap & will continue to drive socially inclusive employment through training, partnerships and employment opportunities!
